This is the route most Etiqa-covered drivers don’t know about. If the accident wasn’t your fault and the police report makes that clear, you have a choice: claim against the other party’s insurer (slow, you pay first and wait for reimbursement) OR file a Knock-for-Knock Own Damage Claim with Etiqa directly.
The Knock-for-Knock route is faster — Etiqa pays our workshop, then chases the other insurer. Your No Claim Discount stays intact, and you can claim back any excess you paid from the at-fault party. We help you set this up on intake.

Writing “Refer To Police Report” On The Form

Etiqa’s policy wording specifically says claim forms must be filled in fully — don’t use shortcut phrases or you risk delayed approval.

Skipping The Knock-For-Knock Option

If you’re not at fault, claiming against the other insurer directly takes months and you pay upfront. KfK with Etiqa is faster and protects NCD.

Filing Your Police Report Too Late

If the other party was clearly at fault (proven by the police report), a Knock-for-Knock Own Damage Claim with Etiqa is usually the faster route. You pay your excess upfront, Etiqa pays us for the repair, then Etiqa recovers from the at-fault insurer. Crucially, your No Claim Discount (NCD) is preserved.
